ITINERARY

6 Nights – 7 Days | Okavango Delta & Linyanti

This is a sample itinerary however we have a whole host of itinerary ideas that are sure to inspire your next tailor-made holiday with Africa by Heart.

Day 1

On arrival at Maun Airport, you will be met by an Africa by Heart representative and transferred by scheduled light aircraft transfer to Khwai Tented Camp for a three-night stay.

Khwai Tented Camp is located on a beautiful site within this community-run concession on the eastern border of the Moremi Game reserve, on the banks of a lagoon flowing into the Khwai river, which acts as a boundary between the reserve and the community area. The camp offers visitors several unique ways to experience Africa. Besides the day-time drives which can feature Africa’s big attractions – lion, cheetah, leopard, wild dog, elephant, buffalo, hippo and giraffe – guests at Khwai Tented Camp are able to explore nature after sunset with a night drive.

This activity, along with the guided walking safaris, is not usually permitted in the National Parks or Game Reserves, and allows guests to get an up close and personal experience with some of Africa’s nocturnal and / or more elusive animals. The camp also provides the opportunity to explore the great stands of leadwood and mopane woodlands as well as open grasslands and banks of the Khwai River on foot.

The camp preserves the romance of yesteryear, a simpler life in harmony with nature. There are no permanent structures; everything can be removed to leave the wilderness exactly as we found it, minimizing the impact on the environment. Guests can enjoy spacious and comfortable tented accommodation, beds and private en-suite bathrooms with flush toilets.

As the Khwai is a community-run concession all proceeds from tourism go directly to help local people and local projects through the Khwai Community Trust.

Day 4

At a time to be advised by lodge staff, depart by road to a nearby airstrip in time to board your helicopter flight to the Linyanti. Here you will be accommodated at Linyanti Ebony Lodge for three nights on a Full Board basis.

Built on raised decking overlooking the Linyanti Marsh, this 10-bedded intimate tented camp offers you stunning views of the Linyanti River. Game drives in open 4×4 vehicles, walking excursions with an armed professional guide, boating and fishing along water lagoons, and mokoro excursions are all activities on offer to provide you with the opportunity to enjoy this unique riverscape up close. Water activities are available only when water levels permit.

The camp’s well-appointed accommodation includes 3 twin bedded tents and 1 luxury family tent. A private dining and lounge area with a splash pool makes the camp a perfect choice for family experiences or small groups requiring exclusive use of a camp. It also offers accommodation for tour leaders and private guides on escorted safaris.
